When assignments that contain the words “Victoria’s Secret” and “supermodel” are handed down from my boss, I can’t help but believe the journalism gods are thinking of me.
Lindsay Ellingson, the 28-year-old Victoria’s Secret Angel, is in Orlando at the Mall at Millenia today to promote the company’s latest line of swimwear.
According to a release, Victoria's Secret models are making stops in three cities – Milwaukee, Seattle and Orlando – to show off the “hottest styles” of Victoria’s Secret 2013 swim collection. Those cities were chosen by fans who voted online to “win an Angel visit.”
Tonight, Ellingson will pose for photos with fans from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Victoria’s Secret store at the mall on Conroy Road. Those who spend $75 at Victoria’s Secret will receive VIP access to meet Ellingson a bit quicker.
Before the fan event, Ellingson posed for photos and spoke to me about her time in Orlando and the perks of being an Angel.
A native of California who majored in Biology in college, Ellingson was discovered while attending the University of California, San Diego. Since then, Ellingson has modeled for some of the world's top designers, including Chantel, Dolce & Gabbana and, of course, Victoria's Secret.
But during her career she's never been to Orlando until this week.
"I'm so excited to be here," she said. "I arrived yesterday and went straight to Epcot Center."
Ellingson said she looks forward to meeting fans and seeing all the people who come out to get their pictures taken with her.
"It's like the best part of my day," she said.
As for being a Victoria's Secret model who travels the world, Ellingson said she couldn't ask for a better job. It's been a "dream of mine" for such a long time, she said.
"It's a dream come true, basically," she said.
