Verizon Wireless earned top honors in wireless data performance (chiefly for reliability and speed) in recent surveys of the Orlando area and Orlando International Airport (MCO) in a study announced Wednesday by testing firm RootMetrics.
Earlier this month, RootMetrics gave Verizon the Overall Performance award for top wireless service throughout Orlando and Central Florida. The nation’s largest wireless company also posted the region’s highest RootScore rankings in Reliability Index, Speed Index, Data Performance and Call Performance in the earlier report.
According to a news release from Verizon, the studies at MCO and the region covered the first half of 2014, the same time period in which Verizon has begun to roll out its XLTE network technology. XLTE utilizes Verizon’s AWS (Advanced Wireless Services) spectrum, which at least doubles the capacity of its high-speed 4G LTE network.
T-Mobile came in first place in terms of download speed, but ranked low for upload speed.
