The Buzz: The Knights aim to avenge last season's embarrassing 17-10 loss at FIU. The Panthers return an experienced lineup and are looking to build on an 8-5 finish in 2011.

The Buzz: UCF scored a home game against Missouri during the Tigers' first season in the SEC. Tigers QB James Franklin is coming back from offseason shoulder surgery.
OCT. 4, vs. EAST CAROLINA, 8 p.m., CBS Sports Network
The Buzz: UCF hosts one of its top conference rivals to open its final slate of Conference USA games. The Pirates have to replace two-year starter Dominique Davis at quarterback.
OCT. 13, vs. SOUTHERN MISS, 8 p.m., CBS Sports Network
The Buzz: UCF has not defeated Southern Miss since 2007 and will look to avenge last year's one-point loss. The defending C-USA champs are coming off a 12-win season.

The Buzz: First-year head coach Justin Fuente has a tall task ahead of him. The Tigers have managed just five combined wins during the past three seasons and are 1-7 all-time vs. UCF.
OCT. 27, at MARSHALL, 8 p.m., CBS Sports Network
The Buzz: Marshall, which went 7-6 last season and could compete with UCF for the C-USA Eastern Division title, is eager to snap a seven-game losing streak against UCF.
NOV. 3, vs. SMU, 7 p.m., CBS Sports Network
The Buzz: UCF begins a tough November stretch with an SMU squad that is favored by many publications to win the C-USA's Western Division with QB Garrett Gilbert.
NOV. 10, at UTEP, 7 p.m., Fox College Sports
The Buzz: The Knights ended last year's disappointing 5-7 campaign on a high note by defeating UTEP 31-14 in the season finale. The Miners also went 5-7 last season.
NOV. 17, at TULSA, TBA, Fox Sports Net
The Buzz: The Golden Hurricane return 13 starters from last year's 8-5 team but are another UCF opponent breaking in a new starting quarterback.
NOV. 24, vs. UAB, TBA, Fox Sports Net
The Buzz: The Knights were stunned by UAB last season, falling 26-24. First-year head coach Garrick McGee is aiming to inject energy into a program that has been in just one bowl game.
