Timeline of key developments in Ereck Plancher lawsuit

Orlando Sentinel

March 18, 2007: Ereck Plancher dies after an offseason workout supervised by coach George O'Leary and his staff.

July 17, 2007: An autopsy found that the stress of his final workout triggered Plancher's sickle-cell trait, a blood disorder that attacked his organs and caused his body to shut down.

March 12, 2009: Enock and Giselle Plancher, Ereck's parents, filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against the UCF Athletic Association and UCF board of trustees, alleging coaches and athletic trainers were negligent in the treatment of their son.

Sept. 24, 2010: Circuit Judge Robert M. Evans denies the UCF Athletic Association motion, indicating it is not operating as a state agency. The ruling means UCFAA could face unlimited settlement claims in the Plancher lawsuit.
