Recruiting Buzz: This is the second year in a row that a connection to UCF coach George O¿Leary has landed an under-the-radar Long Island prospect. This time, though, that flier takes form in a bruising running back with a huge upside. Recommended to UCF by coach Tom Watson, who played for O¿Leary at Syracuse from 1983-87, Stanback was not listed on many traditional recruiting sites, but had drawn some interest from Syracuse before coach Doug Marrone left for the NFL. Stanback has great size in the backfield and is a north-south runner in film that does not shy away from contact, often choosing to lower his shoulder and take on tacklers. He also has breakaway speed and was part of a Nassau Caunty record-setting 4x100 relay that posted a time of 41.83 seconds. With that size and speed combination, Stanback dominated up in Long Island, racking up more than 2,050 total yards playing at both running back and quarterback. He finished his career as his school¿s all-time leading rusher, going over the 4,000 yard mark. He also played at linebacker, racking up more than 75 tackles and could end up moving over to that side of the ball at UCF.
