In 2004, NHL player Todd Bertuzzi, then a Vancouver Canuck, punched Steve Moore of the Colorado Avalanche in the head, fracturing three of his vertebrae and giving him a severe concussion. The attack was meant to be payback for a hit Moore laid on a Canucks player in a game weeks earlier. The injuries ended Moore's career.
