Don't miss: Red Tail pilots monument at Orlando Science Center

WHAT: Orlando Science Center will dedicate its monument to the Red Tail pilots of the Tuskegee Airmen on Monday and celebrate the veterans with activities throughout the weekend. The dedication of the 12-foot spire (pictured is a photo illustration) near the east entrance of the museum will include a flyover by a P-51 Mustang, the same type of aircraft the Red Tails flew in World War II. Science-center visitors can also watch the 2012 film "Red Tails," use a flight simulator that replicates a P-51 Mustang flight and experience competitions such as the Egg Drop Challenge, paper plane-flying contest and Mentos-and-Diet-Coke rocket launches today, Saturday and Sunday.

WHEN: The monument ceremony is at 10 a.m. Monday. Visitors can meet Red Tail pilots at 4:30 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday, followed by the "Red Tails" movie at 5:10 p.m.

WHERE: 777 E. Princeton St., Orlando

COST: Monday's ceremony is free. Science center admission is $19 ($13 for ages 3-11).
