Outside linebacker Quinton Powell of Daytona Beach Mainland said Wednesday night he is still a University of Florida commit, but he has clearly widened his recruiting scope.
Powell received in-home visits from UF and Southern Cal coaches on consecutive nights, Tuesday and Wednesday, and said he is doing his homework on college choices.
“To me those were like business trips for them,” Powell said Wednesday night. “For me, it was time to ask my questions. They did their research, now it’s my turn.
“I’m taking it day by day. I’m still committed to Florida. I can’t give you a percentage on that. Not until I take my official visits.”
Powell said he will take his official recruiting trip to Florida “sometime this month”. He said he also plans to visit USC and Miami, and “probably” Oregon.
Mainland is still very much alive in the Class 6A state playoffs and the Bucs travel to Naples on Friday for a rematch of last year's regional final game, which was won by Mainland in Daytona Beach a year ago.
