There is a photography saying that sometimes the most important thing to do for a great photo is to “be there.” And when the “there” is from special access, the photos are often unique.
A recent example was Wednesday’s final flight of space shuttle Endeavour from the Kennedy Space Center. There were lots of great photos from news photographers on the scene but some of the best photos were made from the chase planes escorting the 747 carrying the shuttle.
The good news for us is that since the photos were made by NASA, they are easy for you to see. The photos are posted to their nasahqphoto account on flickr.com and you can even download high-resolution versions for non-commercial use.
