Shake Shack, a modern burger joint, opening in Winter Park in 2014

Shake Shack, the fab burger joint owned and operated by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, is coming to Winter Park according to its Facebook page. In mid 2014 the new Shake Shack will open near Lake Killarney at the intersection of north Orlando Avenue and West Morse Boulevard.

Shake Shack which opened its first eatery in NYC's in Madison Square Park in 2004, is a modern day roadside burger stand with top-notch burgers, fries, hot dogs, frozen custard, beer and wine. There are three other Shake Shacks in Florida: Boca Raton, Coral Gables and South Beach.

The shack was actually a cart before it was a burger stand. Meyer launched the hot dog cart to support the Madison Square Park Conservancy's first art installation. The cart existed for three successful summers. In 2004, opened a permanent kiosk in the park and what is now Shake Shack was born.
