Program note: SeaWorld's Manta on 'Insane Coaster Wars' Sunday

It's time for a friendly reminder that Manta, the newest coaster at SeaWorld Orlando, will be featured in an episode of the new "Insane Coaster Wars" series on the Travel Channel this Sunday.

The episode airs at 9:30 p.m. It's the second "Insane Coaster Wars" show of the evening -- the premiere of the series is at 9 p.m.

The show will feature point-of-view cameras, coaster fans, engineering experts and riders with vests that monitor heart rates and G-forces. Each 30-minute episode is a four-coaster competition, which climaxes with the announcement of the winner from online voting. (That voting is already closed.)

Manta appears in the "Hang'em High" category, and it will go up against sister coasters Montu of Busch Gardens in Tampa, Aplengeist of Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va., plus Aftershock at Silverwood in Idaho.

The 9 p.m. show, called "G-Force Giants," features SkeiKra at Busch Gardens Tampa, Apollo's Chariot at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Afterburn at Carowinds and Medusa at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in California.

SeaWorld Orlando's Kraken coaster will be featured in the "Wrong Way Up" episode on July 22.

The series is scheduled to conclude with a one-hour finale on Aug. 12. The 10 coaster with the most votes will be revealed.

Other parks included in the series include Cedar Point, Dollywood, Holiday World, Kings Island, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags New England, Dorney Park, Knott's Berry Farm and Buffalo Bill's.
