Trevor Siemian, QB, Olympia vs Dr. Phillips Secondary
Siemian, ranked No. 9 on the Sentinel's Central Florida Top 100, has thrown for over 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns for the second year in a row. Siemian made some mistakes in Olympia's loss to Dr. Phillips earlier in the year but he was without his top target Rashad Lawrence. Siemian needs to get off to a good start as they have struggled in the first half in a lot of games. If they get behind early it might be too much to overcome. Siemian will face a strong Panther defense that has only allowed 55 points the entire year. The secondary is led by three rising juniors Hasean Clinton Dix, Laquentin Smith and Roderick Ryles. Ryles leads the team with 8 interceptions. Dix does a little bit of every thing and will probably try to apply pressure on Siemian forcing a bad throw. Smith roams the secondary and is also a physical run stopper. All three guys are already garnering major interest from colleges.
Denard Lucas, WR, Boone vs. Lo Wood, DB, Apopka
Lucas, ranked No. 61 on the Sentinel's Central Florida Top 100, has 32 receptions for 590 yards and 9 touchdowns. He is a play maker when he gets the ball in his hands and he is also a dangerous return man. I feel Apopka will be able to control Boone's running game and in order for Boone to win Lucas will need to make a few big plays. Wood, ranked No. 5 on the Sentinel's Central Florida Top 100, will probably have the task of following Lucas around the field. Wood is a shut down corner and plays the ball well when it's in the air. Lucas will have a tough task going against one of the areas best cover corners.
Patrick Mputu, RB, Winter Park vs. Jordan Rudd, LB, Lake Brantley
Mputu, ranked No. 69 on the Sentinel's Central Florida Top 100, has rushed for 1,302 yards and 15 touchdowns. Mputu is the spark plug for the Wildcats offense and if Lake Brantley is going to pull off the upset they must shut him down. Rudd, ranked No. 59 on the Sentinel's Central Florida Top 100, has 83 tackles and 14 tackles for loss. Rudd will need to keep Mputu out of the Brantley secondary or it will be a long night for the Patriots.
Trevor Berry and Chris Gallon, WR's, Oviedo vs. Akeem Daniels and Shaq Bell, DB's, Osceola
Berry and Gallon have combined for 947 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns on the year. With the addition of RB Steward Butler they haven't been asked to do as much this year but they will be relied upon in the playoffs. Daniels, ranked No. 41 on the Sentinel's Central Florida Top 100, and Bell, ranked No. 27 on the Sentinel's Central Florida Top 100, can not give up the big play. I feel this game is a toss up and who ever wins this match up will move on in the playoffs.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
