Palm Beach Gardens Dwyer High linebacker Evan Harvey wasn't even planning to attend this weekend's Orlando MVP Camp at Dr. Phillips High. But thanks to some coercing from teammate Mike Minns, Harvey made the trip, and he's glad he did.
He impressed the coaches at the camp so much that the little guy (5-foot-11, 200 pounds) was picked as the MVP of the camp linebackers. He beat out some impressive competition, like Dr. Phillips' Phillip Amone, Jamie Willis of Fort Meade, James Burgess of Homestead and Grady Redding of Cocoa, just to name a few.
The little-known Harvey said he was out to get some attention for himself, and he certainly did that. Check out the accompanying video interview with the Orlando Sentinel's Chris Hays.
