Gov. Scott signs workforce bill

Gov. Rick Scott signs the workforce accountability bill during a ceremony in Orlando, Friday, March 30, 2012. Looking on, Orange mayor Teresa Jacobs (far left), bill co-sponsors Sen. Andy Gardiner (2nd from left) and Rep. Jason Brodeur (2nd from right) and others, at JobVantage. The bill, HB 7023, empowers the governor to better regulate top executives of the state's regional jobs boards. The law came in the wake of a series of Orlando Sentinel stories that uncovered questionable spending and management practices during the past year at the boards, including Orlando's Workforce Central Florida. The workforce bill was part of the governor's ¿Job Creation and Economic Growth Agenda,¿ a package of four pro-business bills that he signed this week.
