An Orlando woman early Friday was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder after stabbing her boyfriend in the chest, piercing his heart, police said.
The unidentified victim is in surgery for the stab wound, the Orlando Police Department said.
Betty Federick, 42, is accused of stabbing her boyfriend in their home on Jacobs Place near State Road 408 at 12:10 a.m. Friday.
She told police a stranger knocked on the door and stabbed her boyfriend when he answered, but her brother told police a different story.
Federick's brother, Tawain Reed, told police his sister grabbed a knife from the kitchen, stabbed her boyfriend in the chest then put the knife on top of the kitchen cabinet above the stove, Reed told police.
Federick is being held without bond in the Orange County Jail.
