Orlando police stop driver attacking victim with car

An Orlando Police Department officer stopped a driver who was ramming his vehicle into another car, saving the woman inside Wednesday afternoon.

Domestic-violence suspect Charles Lamons, 28, faces charges of aggravated battery, aggravated stalking and fleeing and eluding.

An officer was driving on East Colonial Drive near Maguire Boulevard in Orlando when he noticed a driver using his vehicle to ram another car, police spokesman Sgt. Jim Young said.

The officer tried pulling over the attacker, but only the victim pulled over.

Police said the reckless driver is the victim's ex-boyfriend.

He is also accused of stalking the woman and making threats to harm her and her 8-year-old child, Young said.

Police spotted the attacker's vehicle on Edgewater Drive in College Park shortly after the incident.

About 10 patrol cars responded to the scene and police were able to arrest the suspect.
