A homeless man was shot in the neck near downtown Orlando early Friday.
Roger William Franks was shot in the neck at 12:20 a.m. in the 1000 block of West Central Boulevard, said Lt. John Holysz, Orlando Police Department spokesman.
The shooter is on the loose and has not been identified.
Franks was walking to the Coalition for the Homeless when a man on a bicycle approached him said, "Come with me."
As Franks tried to get away, he was shot in the right side of his neck, a police report said.
Franks ran to the Orange Regional Juvenile Detention Center to ask for help.
He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center and is expected to recover.
Franks described the gunman as a 20-year-old with a mustache and a short haircut.
