Howard board, superintendent in legal battle as they run county school system

Point made, charge taken

LOS ANGELES — At practice Friday, in an attempt to coax something extra out his team, Jacque Vaughn asked many Orlando Magic players how many charges they’ve taken this season.

A few answered, “None.”

Vaughn didn’t bother to ask J.J. Redick. The coach knew Redick ranked among the team’s leaders in charges taken.

On Saturday, Redick took a charge by Jamal Crawford with 12.9 seconds left, and it helped propel the Magic to a 104-101 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

“He didn’t give the ball up,” Redick said. “He just ran right through me.”
