Magic vets cleared to play tonight with the NBA trade deadline looming

DALLAS — J.J. Redick, Jameer Nelson, Arron Afflalo and all of the Magic’s healthy players are cleared to play for the Orlando Magic when they face the Dallas Mavericks tonight at American Airlines Center, Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said minutes ago.

That doesn’t prove that Redick, Nelson, Afflalo and the others won’t get traded before Thursday’s 3 p.m. NBA trade deadline.

But it does indicate that the Magic haven’t agreed to any deal yet.

General manager Rob Hennigan and assistant general manager Scott Perry didn’t join the team on its current road trip. Hennigan and Perry remained in Orlando, where they’re taking calls and making calls about potential deals.
