After running up and down the court with his Orlando Magic teammates in practice Tuesday, Arron Afflalo hopes to make his preseason debut Wednesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies.
"I hope so," Afflalo said after practice ended. "The plan is to, but again it's at Coach's discretion."
"Coach," of course, is Jacque Vaughn, who has been extra cautious with his injured players this preseason.
Afflalo sat out the Magic's first six exhibitions this month because of a strained left hamstring.
Vaughn planned to speak with Afflalo over the next 24-plus hours and see how Afflalo's left hamstring responds to the extra work before a decision is made about Wednesday night.
"I did not talk to him after practice," Vaughn said. "If I was to say going into practice, I would like to see him play against Memphis. I'll talk to him on the plane or see how he feels after he ices and see about shootaround and [it'll be] kind of a gametime decision. But he did some good things in practice today."
Afflalo doesn't envision that it will take long for him to get back into the flow of things and develop chemistry with his teammates.
He also didn't report any pain in his leg.
"It felt fine," he said. "The main thing is just the conditioning and getting a feel for the game," he said. "Just typical soreness from the first few days. That's all."
