Many theater buffs have seen the musical "Mamma Mia!" — the show reports that more than 50 million people have watched the show, based on the music of Abba, worldwide.
But there are two reasons Central Floridians can be excited when it plays the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre this fall. For one, Orlando will be the first city to see the new tour of the show that has played Broadway for 12 years.
More fun: One of our own will be in the cast. Michael Colavolpe will play one of the male leads in the tour. Colavolpe, who recently starred in "Mitzi Morris in If Looks Could Kill" at the Orlando Fringe Festival, can currently be seen onstage as Edna in the Bay Street Players' production of "Hairspray." Colavolpe has also starred in Wanzie Presents' "The Temperamentals," Bay Street Players' "Avenue Q," Mad Cow Theatre's "Company" and the Orlando Philharmonic's "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," among other roles.
Although the show isn't until October, single tickets are already on sale. Prices begin at $41 for the show, which runs Oct. 3-9.
