Lake Minneola senior setter Alex Mendoza has committed to play volleyball at USF.
The 5-foot-11 Mendoza said she was impressed with the direction of the Bulls program.
"I picked USF mainly because of the coaching staff," Mendoza said. "They are so energetic and excited about what they do and are working to take the program to the next level.
"USF has a great atmosphere that offered a lot of opportunity on the court and in the classroom. It was the perfect fit."
Mendoza was a key part of a Lake Minneola team that went 25-2 last season. She had 710 assists, an average of 9.3 assists per set. He also had 181 digs, 46 kills, an 89.8 service percentage, a team-high 373 service aces and 16 blocks.
Also committing to college from Lake Minneola is fellow senior Ally Lunsford, a 6-foot-1 middle hitter, who will play at Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I.
Lunsford had 174 kills last season, 51 blocks and a service percentage of 87.4
