Legendary rock band KISS is set to perform Friday at the Amway Center, kicking off the weekend-long festivities for Arena Bowl XVI.
So like all fans of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and the gang, I decided to paint my face and wreak havoc around downtown Orlando.
In less than an hour, I went from clean-cut reporter to rock 'n' roll rebel thanks to Orlando Sentinel graphic designer Shiniko Floyd. (You may remember him from such classics as "Dwight Howard learns about Texas" and "Gatorcane")
With make-up applied, I held a Q&A session with a few fellow reporters, including columnist Scott Maxwell. Then after a few photos with my tongue hanging out, I stepped outside.
Reactions on Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando ranged from blank stares to thumbs up. A guy working at a pizza joint stuck out his tongue as I passed. And Hamburger Mary's let me rock out on their stage.
The only thing missing from my KISS adventure: Shannon Tweed.
Tickets are still available for KISS and Arena Bowl XVII.
