HOW HE CAME TO ORLANDO: Drafted 11th overall in 2006.
SCOUTING REPORT: Redick is in the final year of his contract with the Magic, who guaranteed his deal over the summer. The club expects J.J. to be one of its leaders in this rebuilding phase. He has made significant improvements in his game since his rookie season, becoming a dependable playmaker along with his prowess as a 3-point shooter. J.J. shot career-highs at the 3-point line (41.8 percent ) and free-throw line (91.1 percent) last season. Defending quicker players always will be a challenge for Redick. If he wants to finally earn and keep a starting role, he’ll have to beat out newly acquired Arron Afflalo, considered a solid defender.
