West Orange defensive lineman Winston Chastang recorded six sacks in last week’s win over Colonial, breaking the previous single-game school record of five sacks set by Dedrick Morrison in a 2001 game against Dr. Phillips. Chastang’s teammate Corey Vereen added three sacks in the Colonial game.
“Having a great set of ends like these two makes my job as a defensive coordinator much easier,” said assistant coach Mike Rummel. “It’s an honor to be coaching these two Divison-1 players.”
Chastang now has 9 sacks this season and Vereen has 7. Vereen totaled 16 sacks last year to break Morrison’s single-season record of 13. West Orange hosts Wekiva Friday at 7:30 p.m.
