Freshman Miguel Rivera made a 3-point shot attempt as the buzzer sounded, but officials ruled it was just late and Orlando University (17-11) lost 41-39 at Tampa Wharton (24-4) in an 8A region final.
"I thought it was good," University coach Billy Owens said. "The three referees huddled for a good while after the shot. One of them said he thought it was good, but then they moved the huddle away from people and kept talking. Then they waved it off and said it was no good."
