Sept. 1 vs. Bowling Green, 3:30 p.m., ESPN
The Buzz: The last time Florida lost a season opener was in 1989 – a 24-19 defeat to Ole Miss. Bowling Green coach Dave Clawson is familiar with Florida and the SEC. He was Tennessee’s offensive coordinator in 2008.
Sept. 8 at Texas A&M, 3:30 p.m., ESPN
The Buzz: Texas A&M may be new to the Southeastern Conference, but Will Muschamp is familiar with the program. He spent two seasons as the defensive coordinator at Texas and faced off against the Aggies during his tenure with the Longhorns.
Sept. 15 at Tennessee, 6 p.m., ESPN
The Buzz: Florida has won seven straight games against the Vols, including last year’s 33-23 victory at The Swamp. The defense will get an early test against Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray, who threw for 288 yards and tossed three touchdowns in a losing effort last season.
Sept. 22 vs. Kentucky, TBA
The Buzz: You know you dominate a program when none of your current players were born the last time you lost a game to them. Florida owns a 28-game win streak against Kentucky dating back to 1986.
Oct. 6 vs. LSU, TBA
The Buzz: Florida ran into a buzz saw in Baton Rouge last season, falling behind 24-0 to the top-ranked Tigers before eventually losing 41-11. Jacoby Brissett made his first collegiate start, going 8-of-14 for 94 yards and a touchdown. He also threw two picks.
Oct. 13 at Vanderbilt, TBA
The Buzz: Vanderbilt showed marked improvement under first-year coach James Franklin last season. The Commodores won six games and nearly beat the Gators at The Swamp. Florida has done well against Vandy and has not lost in Nashville since 1988.
Oct. 20 vs. South Carolina, TBA
The Buzz: The last time Steve Spurrier brought the Gamecocks to Gainesville, South Carolina walked away with its first ever victory at The Swamp. In that game, Marcus Lattimore carried the ball 40 times for 212 yards and three touchdowns. Stopping him will be key if Florida hopes for any chance of a win.
Oct. 27 vs. Georgia in Jacksonville, 3:30 p.m., CBS
The Buzz: Florida jumped out to a 20-10 lead before the Bulldogs rallied with two second-half touchdowns to snap the Gators three-game series win streak. This will be another big test for Florida’s offensive line, which gave up six sacks to the Bulldogs last season -- including four by Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones.
Nov. 3 vs. Missouri, TBA
The Buzz: The Gators welcome SEC newcomers Missouri to The Swamp. The last time these two teams met, Steve Spurrier was the quarterback for Florida (1965). Missouri’s James Franklin will present the Gators defense with its first look at a top dual-threat quarterback this season.
Nov. 10 vs. Louisiana-Lafayette, TBA
The Buzz: It’s homecoming week in Gainesville, and the Gators will face the explosive offense of the Ragin’ Cajuns. Louisiana averaged 32.3 points per game last season but are 0-4 all-time against Florida. Louisiana only returns four starters on defense, so expect the Gators to put up some points in this one.
Nov. 17 vs. Jacksonville State, TBA
The Buzz: Florida wraps up its home schedule with a first-ever meeting with Jacksonville State. Expect coach Will Muschamp and the Gators to use this one as a tune-up for the Florida State game the following week.
Nov. 24 at Florida State, TBA
The Buzz: Muschamp has been preaching the importance of winning the turnover margin battle. Nothing highlights the Gators’ poor turnover performance than Florida’s past two showdowns with rival Florida State. The Gators turned the ball over eight times during the past two season while only forcing four FSU miscues.
