Florida to get another $26.8 to turnaround its "lowest performing" schools

The state had won the grant previously and today the U.S. DOE announced it would receive a "continuation" grant.

The Central Florida schools receiving the grant money are Evans and Oakridge high schools and Memorial Middle in Orange County, Leesburg High in Lake County and Celebration, Gateway and Poinciana high schools in Osceola County.

They are among 102 Florida schools that received the grants, which have paid for longer school days, tutors and teacher bonuses, among other items.
