Corn mazes are an old tradition at harvest time. Long & Scott Farms near Zellwood build a seven-acre corn maze each year where visitors can get lost for hours on end. Each year is a different theme with pictures, clues and games to make learning fun. This year’s theme is Renewable Energy.
There is one maze is for children and another one for grownups, which can take up to two hours to complete. Created with GPS precision when the plants are small, the maze is carefully watched from towers to aid bewildered trekkers who get lost. Water and sunscreen are recommended as well as extra time.
After the maze there are other enticements such as a giant jumping pillow, zip lines and fresh produce brought in from the farm daily. The maze will be opened weekends until December 11.
