A bus carrying Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist was involved in a minor crash on Sand Lake Road in Orange County on Thursday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers say the bus was westbound on Sandlake at 1:45 p.m. when it slowed to a stop near Turkey Lake Road, due to traffic ahead. A 2012 Dodge Avenger driven by Tina Marie Pun, 40, of Orlando, was directly behind the bus and tried to change lanes, but struck the left rear of the bus, FHP said.
Crist, who is campaigning in his race against GOP Gov. Rick Scott, was one of 15 passengers on the bus, an FHP report says. Annette Taddeo, his running mate, was also aboard.
No one was injured in the crash, troopers said.
Pun was cited for careless driving, operating a vehicle with a suspended license and failure to report a crash, FHP said. Crist and Taddeo kicked off a three-day bus tour Wednesday called Restore the Cuts, which features the former Republican governor riding a school bus across the state.
