SchenkelShultz Architecture has started work on the University of Central Florida's first building dedicated to international students.
The firm's Orlando office won a contract to design the $11.2 million Global UCF Building, which is expected to meet environmental criteria for a silver LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. With 52,000 square feet, the facility will be on the Memory Mall at the main campus.
The building is expected to help UCF recruit international students. It is to serve them by day and provide continuing education to all students at night.
Construction is scheduled to begin in December with completion by Dec. 1, 2015, according to UCF. The building will include classrooms, faculty offices and an advising suite to serve a growing curriculum for international students. It will also include a student concourse with a variety of collaborative opportunities.
Clancy & Theys Construction Co., Orlando, is the construction manager.
Altamonte Springs-based DACG Inc. won a $400,000 contract to provide interior renovations on a building at 1551 Sandspur Road, Maitland, that will serve as a hub for Florida Department of Transportation activities related to the Interstate 4 reconstruction project. The I-4 work is scheduled to begin in early 2015 and be completed in early 2021. DACG won the contract as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and will begin work July 30, with completion set for mid-September.
Ripley Entertainment leased 41,800 square feet of office and warehouse space, including renewal of an existing lease and an additional 14,400 square feet, for five years at Crownpointe Commerce Park, Orlando. Greg Rebman and Cory Kroeger with KR Properties represented Ripley. Tom McFadden and Bo Bradford with Lee & Associates represented the landlord, TR Crownpointe Corp. Kroeger and Rebman also represented landlord Parkers Landing LLC in Sunbelt Rentals' lease of 20,000 square feet at 9101 Parkers Landing in south Orlando. At Poinciana CommerCenter West in Kissimmee, Rattlesnake LLC leased 25,600 square feet of warehouse space for six years. Greg Rebman and Cory Kroeger, of KR Properties, represented the tenant. David Murphy and Monica Perez Wonus, with CBRE, represented the landlord.
Trustar Energy LLC purchased 2 acres at Exchange and Chancellor drives in Orlando Central Park from International Florida Investment for $515,000. Trustar plans to build a natural gas conversion plant on the site. Cory Kroeger and Greg Rebman, with KR Properties, were the only brokers in the transaction.
Joe LaFleur and Christopher Minchin, of Marcus & Millichap's Orlando office, represented the seller of a 20-unit multi-family property, Park Avenue Apartments, in Winter Garden. The complex, which was built in 1966 and has 10 duplexes, sold for $850,000.
