The Daytona Beach Fire Department dalmingos are back home safe, keeping their mascotly post in front of the fire station on Beach Street. The pair were abducted during Bike Week, and Fire Chief Paul Skinner was seriously concerned that an out-of-town visitor had nabbed them for a souvenir, but then a he found a scribbled ransom note taped to the station door. Skinner called the pager number on the ransom note and recieved a brief call back demanding a million dollar ransom for the "strange birds" safe return. When Skinner asked for further instructions, the caller hung up. Skinner discovered the plastic pair returned to their post. He suspects it was an inside job.
