Getting OUT of the house

Going out for a run or every-day activities is great, but leave the house for too long and you may come back with extra pounds. Taking long trips for work or vacation can cause weight gain in more ways than one, according to a study in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

First, you're more likely to eat out and make fast-food stops when you're out of town or staying in a hotel. But that's not the only culprit, extended periods of sitting (on a plane or in a car) are not good for you. Sitting for more than six hours a day can make you more likely to suffer from obesity, diabetes and heart disease.
