2007 Groundhog Day Lake County tornadoes

A broken statue found a block away from his home oversees Red Flowers' swimming pool next to the skeletal remains of his house in DeLand on Friday, April 13, 2007. His home was demolished by the Groundhog Day tornado that hit earlier this year. The pool was filled with debris after the storm. Flowers, who works for <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="ORCRP012576" title="Progress Energy Incorporated" href="/topic/business/progress-energy-incorporated-ORCRP012576.topic">Progress Energy</a>, was up right before the tornado hit preparing to go to work. He worked the Christmas Day tornado in 2006 and knew that he would soon be called to help repair fallen power lines.
