Alan Shepard

Alan Shepard was the first American to go into space in 1961, about three weeks after Russian Yuri Gagarin. He was also the fifth person to walk on the Moon. During the mission he hit two golf balls on the lunar surface. He died of Leukemia in 1998. He was 74. Orlando Sentinel
