Celebrity chef Roy Yamaguchi at his namesake restaurant Roy's

Where: 7760 W. Sand Lake Road, Orlando
Call: 407-352-4844
The lowdown: Roy Yamaguchi's signature style is Hawaiian fusion cuisine. The macadamia nut-crusted mahi mahi is a classic. Be sure to finish with pineapple upside-down cake. Staff are well-trained, almost to a fault. You will probably never have the opportunity to open the front door yourself -- one of the hostesses will likely leap ahead to do that for you. Prices are moderately-high to expensive.
The background: Founder Roy Yamaguchi opened his first Roy's in Honolulu in 1988. The restaurant has a great sense of community, and unlike many other restaurants near the tourist area, this restaurant caters to locals.
