Hurricane Katrina 2005

A dog makes its way toward rescuers September 12, 2005 as the flood waters recede north of downtown New Orleans. U.S. Army 82nd Airborne and U.S. Coast Guard were on patrol searching for cadavers and possible survivors in a working class neighborhood when the dog came close enough to the raft to be rescued. But he decided to go back to a dry porch at a home.
