According the GoldHelmet.com, Christian Jones, the No. 1-ranked player in the Sentinel's Central Florida Top 100 for 2010, took a two-day visit to South Bend, Ind., with his father this weekend. They took in the Irish victory over Boston College on Saturday.
Recruits are allowed 48-hour official visits to college campuses, with the time period beginning upon first contact by university officials at the point of arrival.
Though everyone figures Jones will be signing Florida State letterhead come Feb. 3, he's still entitled to his NCAA-limit of five official recruiting trips. And, given Florida State's recent issues, he may just be looking around a little more than he had intended.
The FSU speculation with Jones stems from his family ties. His father, Willie Jones Sr., and brother, Willie Jones Jr., both played in Tallahassee.
He is still deciding about his other three visits.
Jones has said Oklahoma will probably get one and he is also considering Michigan and Rutgers. He's been to Florida State and Florida on several unofficial trips and figures there's no need to take official visits to those two schools.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
