Wake Forest steals receiver Matt James away from UCF, others

Sentinel Staff Writer

UCF lost a possible recruit Tuesday when wide receiver Matt James of Sanderson High in Raleigh, N.C., committed to Wake Forest, according to the Fayetteville (N.C.) Observer.

The Observer reported that James, a 6-foot-6, 196-pounder, chose Wake over UCF, East Carolina, Kent State, Maryland, Syracuse and West Virginia, among others.

Wake continues to pile up recruits, including several Florida prospects: CB Merrill Noel of Pahokee (originally committed to Florida State), DB Desmond Cooper from Jacksonville Bolles and TE Jonathan Garcia from Cape Coral.

The UCF Knights only have one wide receiver commitment so far inthe 2010 recruiting class in Mount Dora's Cornelius Whitehead.
