The Orlando Magic had only one draft pick in 1992 -- but he sure was a significant acquisition. With the No. 1 pick, the Magic selected Louisiana State center Shaquille O'Neal. Shaq only played in Orlando for four seasons, but the Magic made the playoffs for the first time his second season with the team, advanced to the NBA Finals in his third season and reached the Eastern Conference Finals in his fourth season. He was selected for the NBA All-Star Game all four seasons and represented the United States on the gold-medal-winning Olympic team in 1996. During the Olympics in 1996, O'Neal announced that he was leaving Orlando as a free agent to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.
