Plane crash benefit

Millie Dechat (left) comforts Cheryl MacDermott, Daniel Happy's math and science teacher, after the teacher saw her for the first time after a plane crashed into the Dechat home. "She's so inspiring, how strong she is. I have been a teacher for 17 years, had thousands of students, it is so upsetting for me. I've never had a child ...where something like this happened....his future....It's a thought I'll carry with me forever," said MacDermott as she wiped the tears from her face. A Community Festival was held at Marina Island in Sanford to benefit the families hurt in the Sanford plane crash. Christian bands performed and vendors donated food and games to raise funds for the Woodard and Dechat families impacted by the crash. Community members gathered to personally greet Millie Dechat and Joe Woodard.
