Lenten cross on Downtown Orlando Trinity Lutheran Church before Easter

A cross is lifted before it is placed atop the bell tower of Trinity Lutheran Church downtown on Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday to mark the begining of <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="EVFES0000049" title="Lent" href="/topic/religion-belief/christianity/lent-EVFES0000049.topic">Lent</a> season. It is the second year that the church has placed the cross atop the church. The cross replaces a star (at right) which was placed there at the start of the Advent season. Christians use lent to remember why Christ died on the cross, and to prepare for <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="12014002" title="Easter" href="/topic/religion-belief/easter-12014002.topic">Easter</a>, Orlando, Tuesday, February, 5, 2008.
