MODEL CALL: Introducing Amanda Babinski

For the past six months, Amanda Babinski has been modeling fulltime, focusing on getting her career started. She also has been working part-time as a hairstylist and makeup artist at The Beauty Bar, a salon in South Orlando that will be moving in August to new digs at The Bellagio on Sand Lake Road. She was raised in the small Minnesota town of Truman and finished her schooling in Minneapolis. She came to Florida to attend the Aveda beauty school in St. Petersburg, where she signed on with Benz Models. The agency is sending her on a three-month modeling gig in Athens, Greece, in September. "I'm really excited to see all the opportunities over there," she says. "It's my first time in Greece. I've been doing research online, looking up all the places to visit on my down time . . . though I hope I won't have too much down time!" Amanda, 23, now lives in Orlando with her Pomeranian puppy. She was engaged in March, and she and her fiance enjoy working out at the gym and watching movies in the evening. She also is a big fan of music: "Everything from old-school Frank Sinatra to hip-hop and R&B. But mostly I love electronic indie music."
