Don't let the fact that singer-songwriter Heather Maloney is a classically trained vocalist get your snobbery-meter revved up. She's a talented, approachable musician who's shared stages with Mike & Ruthy, David Wax Museum, Devil Makes Three and Caravan of Thieves. She opened for bluesman Jonny Lang when he played Northampton's Calvin Theater last summer. (She did so well, he asked her to open more shows.) Her second full-length album, Time & Pocket Change, came out last year and generated some well-deserved buzz. Maloney and her band play a local gig on Oct. 6 at Billings Forge, a joint with terrific acoustics and warm vibe all around. So head over.
