Leon Redbone Plays Infinity Hall on Aug. 25

Three decades of weirdo folk-ragtime vamps and swallowed, nasal vocals doesn't land you in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but maybe it should. Leon Redbone (pictured), who looks like someone you'd lose all your money to at poker, was a favorite of Bob Dylan's in the early '70s. He later made his television debut on Saturday Night Live, has gone on to record more than 15 albums and even starred in a top-grossing Will Ferrell flick (Elf). Through the years he's been like a musical time capsule, sticking close to the Depression-era pop-standard sweet-spot while fingerpicking his guitar like a seasoned pickpocket. Check him out at Infinity Hall in Norfolk on Sunday, but keep your wallet in your front pocket.
