Abundance, the current production at Hartford Stage, was penned by playwright and Mississippi native Beth Henley (pictured), who previously won a Pulitzer for her 1981 drama Crimes of the Heart. (Henley went on to adapt that work for the 1987 film, earning her an Oscar nomination, and also wrote screenplays for Nobody's Fool and David Byrne's True Stories.) Abundance follows mail-order brides and friends Bess and Macon as they make their way across the American frontier. The show runs until April 28.
