Letter: Raising Connecticut's minimum wage

Wrong Wage Figure

Gregory B. Hladky's article "Earning It" (March 8) erroneously stated, "The federal minimum wage has been holding steady at $7.25 since 1979." The federal minimum wage in 1979 was $2.90. It has been raised in nine increments to its current level of $7.25, set in 2009. The state of Connecticut's minimum wage has been raised in 17 increments since 1979 to its current level of $8.25, set in 2010.
