The Jayhawks have been going for almost 30 years now, a beloved, semi-under-the-radar-but-cool-for-being-so band featuring guitarist and vocalist Gary Louris, who is currently supporting his first solo tour since reconvening the band with a show at Fairfield Theatre Company's StageOne Friday night. New Haven musician Seth Adam is opening the evening, and he's a big fan of Louris' music. "With roots in Minnesota, I believe artists like Gary Louris were void of 'coastal' influences as they came up," says Adam. "That is to say, genres spring up and fade away in places like L.A. and NYC. However, where The Jayhawks came from, it was just about grabbing a guitar and singing a song — no frills, just about what they knew."
