'Distracted' at The Stratford Theatre Examines the 24/7 Sound Bites of Modern Life

As the world around us continues to speed up, people are finding it harder and harder to slow down. Even when we need to slow down, just to stay healthy. Square One Theatre's new production Distracted, written by Lisa Loomer, examines the problems that arise when 24/7 sound bites and the like force us to tune out the things that really matter. But she tells the tale in a humorous way. It's the story of a mom and dad who are trying to do right by their child who is diagnosed with ADHD. They look for help from therapists, teachers, general practitioners, homeopathy, hyperbaric oxygen chambers and everywhere their friends and neighbors recommend — even though their friends and neighbors are all drugging their own children or getting divorces.

The Stratford Theatre, 2422 Main St., Stratford. Fri.-Sat., 8 p.m. Sun., 2 p.m. Sat., March 16, 8 p.m. $19-$20. (203) 375-8778.
