A Muncie teenager accused of raping a female student at Muncie Central High School last November was sentenced Tuesday.
Steven Moore entered a guilty plea as part of a plea agreement August 1. He was sentenced to five years with four years executed and one year probation.
The victim's mother has filed a lawsuit against the Muncie Community School Corporation, former Superintendent Eric King, former Central Principal Christ Smith and the mother of the suspect for the November 9 incident.
Authorities said the girl was left sitting in the principal's office for more than two hours before police were notified.
Smith is no longer Central's principal but is still employed by MCS. He is set to stand trial on a misdemeanor charge of failing to report child abuse or neglect October 11.
The suit asks the jury to determine unspecified damages.
